This course is a study in how the generalizations and stereotypes of African Americans and their culture have evolved within American society dating back to the colonial years of settlement. These stereotypes are diversified, widespread, and long-standing. Their effects will be discussed and analyzed.

Meet the instructor
Elizabeth Leiba
Elizabeth Leiba is a published writer, with a Bachelor of Science in journalism from the University of Florida. She also holds a MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a Master's degree in English from Western New Mexico University, in Silver City, New Mexico.
Over the past fifteen years Elizabeth has worked as an English Professor both face to face and online for various public and private college and universities. Most recently, she has worked as the Director of Instructional Design & Innovation for Center Education Group.
Elizabeth’s newest adventure has been as an Author with her bestselling book, I'm Not Yelling: A Black Woman's Guide to Navigating the Workplace. Her second book, Protecting My Peace: A Black Woman's Guide to Ancestral Self-Care & Healing.
